Rumors - Friday morning edition

Put that shit in our mouths..right now!!

We've heard some rumors around town. Not sure if any of them are true. That's why they call them rumors. Duh.

Rumor #1: Someone is planning on opening a Banh Mi sandwich shop in Saratoga Springs. We hope this one is true. We've heard people talk about this in the past, but that's about it. They just talk. We want the walk.

Rumor #2: Sangwych is in serious trouble. The Times Union didn't give them a glowing review and from what we are hearing from people, they agree. We at IBI have always enjoyed getting sandwiches there, but we do admit that we prefer Legends over Sanqwych. And perhaps this rumor ties in with rumor #1.

Rumor #3: Max London will be appearing on Food Networks Chopped. We heard this one the other day while eavesdropping on a couple who seemed like they knew him. We hope this isn't just ugly small town chit chat because we want Max to march into the Chopped battlefield and kicks some ass and to also tell Ted Allen to shut up when he announces that there is only 2 minutes left on the clock. Of course they know there's two minutes left..there's a huge fucking clock on the wall that tells you there's 2 minutes left. And Max, if this is indeed true and you do happen to lose in the first round? We will still love you.

Rumor #4: The old Borders building has a new tenant and the buzz is it's Bow tie Theaters. Please, if this is true, get the theater up and running in time for the next Batman movie. Because I'm tired of driving all the way down to Clifton Park or Albany to sit my fat ass into a comfy movie seat theater. The theater at the Wilton Mall is fucking shit and the seats smell like old Starburst and butter mixed together. By the way, if you haven't gone yet, the Clifton Park RPX theater is sweeeeeet.

Rumor #5: The place that was the home of the Grey Gelding could be the home of a Spanish restaurant. PLEEEEEEEEEESE BEEE TRUUUUUUUE!!!

  1. While I would have preferred an independent theater, I would really love any theater and at this point any business to go into the Borders building. It's emptiness is depressing and drags Broadway down.

Spanish food? In Saratoga? While I would love it, (oh my God, I'd love it so much) I won't hold my breath that it will actually be real Spanish food. We'll see. Hopefully it won't be Spanish food like Cantina is Mexican food.

    1. Dear Sweetlytart,
We'll take any theater in Saratoga instead of having to drag ourselves back to the Wilton Mall, which is like taking an unnecessary trip back to the 80's.

As for the Spanish food rumor. We're crossing our fingers that it's true. We heard it from someone who has been a good source of info for us in the past. And THANK YOU!!! Cantina would be good if they stopped saying they sold Mexican food and instead said they served food that's kinda spicy and sort of ethnic. If they did that..it wouldn't be so bad.

  2. Don't fuck with me about the Bowtie Theaters. I thought they responded and said that the parking wasn't available.
It'd be great to see them in town.

  4. Supposedly Zecchini is going to open a Spanish/Tapas place in the Pizza on Broadway building. That might be the source of that one rumor. But who knows, maybe there will two Spanish places to cannibalize the tiny restaurant market that is already overstressed. Good luck!

    1. I think this could be the same rumor. Either way, a Spanish/Tapas place would be welcomed with open arms. Thanks for chiming in and helping us sort out the rumors.

  5. Would love to see Max London on Chopped. I'm sure he would do very well. Would also love to see John Ireland, Dominic Colose and Tim Meaney on that show.
